Shepparton, Mooroopna Light Up

The Mooroopna water tower, the tree in Monash Park and two trees in Fryers St, Shepparton will be illuminated in yellow this month as part of National Road Safety Week.

The Mooroopna water tower and the Monash Park tree will be lit up from May 20-23, while the two Fryers St trees - outside Traffik and the Aussie Hotel - will be lit up from May 16-23.

Road Trauma Support Services Victoria (RTSSV) has organised for landmarks in cities and towns across the country to be used to help raise awareness for road safety, especially in regional areas, as part of the Shine A Light On Road Safety campaign.

Death rates on country roads are four times higher than metropolitan roads, and nearly half of all road fatalities in Victoria happen on roads where the speed limit is 100 km/h or more.
