NSW Walks Safely to School
Over 100 schools have registered to participate in National Walk Safety to School Day in NSW on Friday 20 May.
National Walk Safely to School Day is a community initiative that aims to raise awareness of the health, road safety, transport and environmental benefits that regular walking (especially to and from school) can provide for the long term well-being of our children. Apart from the physical benefits, regular walking also has a favourable impact on children's cognitive and academic performance.
It is important to note that until they are 10 years old, children must always hold the hand of an adult when crossing the road.
1,400 yellow ribbon pins have been distributed to Transport School Crossing Supervisors to that will be worn throughout the week to encourage road safety during NRSW and especially on Friday for National Walk to School Safety Day.
