On average over the past 10 years, 48 people are killed, and around 542 seriously injured on Territory roads every year.
National Road Safety Week aims to raise awareness of the number of people that are killed or injured in road crashes, and provide an opportunity for people and organisations to actively commit to safeguarding the lives and health of all road users, including pedestrians.
This year the following activities will take place across the Territory to raise awareness of National Road Safety Week:
- 125 Yellow Ribbon signs placed across the Territory
- Outdoor banners in Alice Springs and Darwin
- Variable Message boards or rural highways
- Yellow lapel ribbons and vehicle ribbons to be distributed to road safety agencies and other organisations including emergency services and commercial transportation
